AUDIOSHOW 2010
AMR CD-77 and PH-77 Singled out by the Big Guns

30th March 2010

Ultimate Audio (AMR Portugal) debuted the AMR components at the AudioShow 2010 which was held at the Hotel Palace and Hotel Vila Gale, Estoril, in Portugal. Estoril is located approximately 30 minutes drive from Lisbon, the capital.

Held over the weekend of 19th to 21st March, the AudioShow was the 17th show and this year, it returned to its roots as it was dominated by 2-channels systems with far fewer home cinema setups.

The AudioShow is by far, the most popular audio show in Portugal and is organised by Audio Cinema em Casa magazine. http://www.audio.online.pt/

There were a total of 6,000 attendees for the 30 or so exhibitors which is a very impressive turnout and leaves the UK show scene trailing in its wake! The most popular source was CD, with LP next and computer-based audio bringing up the rear.

The first system in the Ultimate Audio room comprised of:
Kuzma Stabi XL2 analog and Playback Designs and AMR PH-77 Phono Equaliser and CD-77 Compact Disk Processor, Vitus Audio amplification into TAD Reference floorstanding speakers

Mr Rui Borges (a turntable manufacturer and venerable analogue guru in Portugal) of Rui Borges Turntables seems to have heard of the PH-77 Phono Equaliser and auditioned it in his room. Mr Borges was quite smitten by PH-77 Phono Equaliser as he stated it was “one of the best phono stages” that he has had the pleasure of auditioning. Mr Borges personally builds each and every one of his turntables by hand and is widely considered to be an authority on vinyl in his native Portugal.

http://www.audiomania.com.pt/index.php?topic=2881.0The highest profile reviewers from Audio Magazine, Jose Victor Henriques from Hificlube, Fernando Salvado from http://www.hi-fi.ebox.pt/ and our very own Alan Sircom from HiFi+ all listened to the Ultimate Audio systems and passed on favourable comments to the Ultimate Audio team.

After the AudioShow ended, the chief editor of Audio magazine approached Ultimate Audio and declared his interest in arranging for the CD-77 to be reviewed by him personally.

Also, the editor of www.hificlube.net has put his name down on the waiting list to review the AMR CD-77 as well.

From http://www.avguide.com/blog/show-report-audioshow-2010 Alan Sircom wrote: “Ultimate Audio also ran rooms in both hotels. In the main hotel, the system comprised AMR CD player, Karan pre/power and Canton loudspeakers, but in the Vila Gale, the company went more upscale, with a Kuzma Stabi XL2 analog and Playback Designs and AMR digital sources, Vitus Audio amplification into TAD Reference floorstanders. Was this making a good sound? Hard to tell; the room always seemed to have 200 people in there, such is the interest in audio in Portugal.”

Sorry Alan about the busy room!

While the AMR equipment was only present in two rooms, we were most impressed by the “deep impact” of the AMR components. Judging not only by the attendees to the rooms but also the follow-up requests by the most highly respected reviewers in Portugal, we have been quite taken aback by the initial favourable response to the AMR components.

‘Ultimately’ without the efforts of Ultimate Audio, AMR would not have made the splash it has - we would like to heartily thank Ultimate Audio for organising such a successful debut for the AMR equipment in Portugal.
